Yennai Arindhaal - A typical Gautham Vasudev Menon class film with no commercial or mass element, A very simple movie

Hats off to Thala ajith for sharing screen space with ‪#‎ArunVijay‬ and giving him lots of scope for him to perform, there are few scenes where ‪#‎Thala‬ comes behind Arun Vijay, am sure these days no mass actor will give equal importance to any other actor in their movies.

Coming in to the movie, Yes few scenes in this movie resembles ‪#‎VV‬ especially the #Thala Trisha portion and first half moves bit slow, but 2nd half picks up with the racy screenplay.

Thala screen presence and his performance is awesome, especially in a scene with kota srinivasa rao, i think Thala should concentrate on his weight frown emoticon

#ArunVijay has done really well, but i don't see a commanding antagonist like GVM earlier movies (Pandiya in KK and Amuthan,Ila in VV), he could have made more interesting, this movie will definitely help him to become in the likes of ‪#‎Suriya‬ & ‪#‎Vikram‬

A celebration of love!!

Thank you Mani Ratnam for this very timely return to form. OK Kanmani( Such a nice title) is a beautiful love story about the modern age relationships. The dialogues and the settings do bring back flashes of Alaipayuthey and Aaytha Ezhuthu. This isn't a perfect movie. There were some scenes that were cringe worthy(The Loopie App song/moment) . But despite these minor flaws, this movie is a triumph. A celebration. Performances by the cast were terrific . Dulquer is a capable leading man(despite his limited acting range). Nithya Menon was terrific and frighteningly real. But it's Prakash Raj and Leela Samson who steals the show as the older couple . The film moves to a different when they are in the frame. Overall, a beautiful movie that will appeal to the classes.

Enakkul Oruvan and not Lucia

Firstly I'm not a person for remakes if one aims at directing the film exactly like the original - Whats the point of even remaking a film then. Take Oldboy for an instance, the English film had the same template of the original Korean remake which led to its share of critics who disowned the film. Let's come to EO which had terrific performance from Sid n Deepa BTW I thought was just a pretty face before I saw the film. Santosh Narayan is soon becoming the composer for the Indie movies which seem to attain the cult status just for just the score. Half Baked attempt... Entire effort went futile

When Gunasekhar had announced that he will be make a biopic on Legendary ruler "Rudramadevi", people had a feeling that at least now he chose a safe project. Because its been almost 11 years he didn't have a proper hit in the industry as all previous outings were utter disasters. Coming to the story plot: The film starts off well, how Marco Polo explains to his king about our Rudramadevi's reign. It is all about how Rudramadevi successfully ruled Kakatiya Kingdom in 13th Century.

While choosing this well known subject wise, Gunasekhar is quite successful but when it comes to on paper execution he failed it big time. Very bad music by Ilayaraja and he also failed big time. It is better not to talk about VFX CG work actually, I would say Cartoon network or childhood Ramayana or Mahabharata TV series had better graphics than this movie. All war sequences are so awry and they have been choreographed so hastily. Dialogues are the ones which are decent in the movie.

Only highlights in the movie are Good story, Anuskha and Allu Arjun's roles. Anushka poured her soul into the movie. Hats off for her hardwork and dedication. Allu Arjun has got an amazing role, be it his attitude, telangana dialect and dressing, he just nailed it in Gona Ganna Reddy's role. People will definitely remember his role forever. Rest all star cast has got adequate runtime. It is really sad to see having all such a huge star cast and all things in place, still he couldn't give a good product to us. But if you are choosing well known story about a great warrior and that too with a high budget in the hands, it has to be made sure that Graphic work should be a key point in the movie, there itself Gunasekhar failed it big time.

It is quite obvious that people start comparing it with Bahubali but It is no way compared to it. In Bahubali story may be weak but the presentation is simply splendid, where as story is very strong here and presentation has got exacerbated. Gunasekhar lost his credibility totally. God only knows whether he gets table profit at least with the opening collections. Had it been taken up by Rajamouli, this film would have gone to a different zone. Overall Rudramadevi is a Half baked product which doesn't please you at all.

Elements like the below are an icing on the cake : 1. Eega doing its best to prevent Sudeep from getting intimate with Bindu.

2. Eega's teasing gestures to Sudeep, which is funny and also lends an aura of heroism around the fly.

3. Eega's song where it challenges Sudeep is not only well-placed but also an integral part of the film.

4. The character of Bindu being made a part of Eega's plot is superb. Kicha Sudeep's performance in Eega is getting rave reviews from various quarters. evidence for improvement in standards for Indian cinema

Just watched it and feeling spectacular, really the entire team worked very hard and result is visible in the movie. S.S.Rajamouli congrats to you and your team. There are some minor VFX error like jumping over the buildings etc., which appeared unnatural i hope they are rectified in part-2. I heard someone saying about item song, but it seemed to me like part of plan by the hero and it is apt .

Anushka makeup should have been better, Prabhas and Rana have done justice with their body and action.Not to be forget Ramya Krishna is terrific in her role as Satya Raj in his.The background score is terrific.Resemble 300 and Lord of the rings series, i would say this type of story line will definitely have similarity and which ever comes first will be praised. there are many goose-bumping moments. i enjoyed it through out the time.

Die, but don't make a scene!

Concept: I'm really amazed by the concept of the movie. I have never seen such a movie in any language. Read one story in my childhood in similar concept and happened to come by an article few days ago. But, I could never imagine someone would ever dare to make a movie on this topic. Topic? If summarized its "Assisted Suicide"! To make it more clear, let me translate the tagline of the movie i.e. "Morbe moro chorio na" (Die if you want but don't embarrass). So there is private organization which helps people to commit suicide successfully! Provides a 3 days crash course to enlighten the participants about various methods to suicide. What not to do and what to do etc. Meghna(Koel Mallik) recently has broken up with her bf. She's very upset after breaking up a 14yrs long relationship and wants to end herself. Enter Ananda Kar(Parambrata) the CEO of "Hemlock Society". He asks her to join the course so she could die properly without embarrassing everyone including herself. Rest you need to see.

Character development: Only two characters come into focus since the movie begins. Meghna and Ananda, even though I would say its Koel's movie. She first time got the chance to break out of her usual happy, bubbly, naughty characters. Her d-glam representation is also something she tried first time. And, I love her so I liked her anyway Supporting characters are also very strong actors but not much explored.

Direction: So Srijit Mukherjee made a hat-trick with his 3rd movie. Another totally different subject executed very well. A very beautifully crafted movie. Well executed first half and not so well executed second half. But, I've a question to Srijit, what is this obsession of him to explain everything, every character getting justice. Life is boring, zero dramatic. Why not keep that way. Would have really loved it if the "6 months later" part was not there.

Screenplay: Slow but steady. At a length of 2 and half hours its too much. Movies on such concept should be crisp and short. Which has the scope to impact to audience. Last few minutes just dilutes everything, breaks the quirky environment it created from start.

Cinematography: Good but not great.

Songs and background score: Few are already hit. Nice mix of pop and normal filmy music. Background music is apt to situations.

Editing: Poor job with editing. The movie should have been 30 minutes shorter.

Verdict: Even with few downside this movie wins (or would win) hearts because of its subject and great acting. Watch it even if you have to watch it with subs.

An amazing character study

I recently saw a work print of this film, and it was simply amazing! The film walks a fine line between comedy and drama, with plenty of great laughs and more than a few unexpected dramatic moments (and one genuine tragedy!). This film is most definitely NOT your typical Bollywood film, and that's part of what makes it so wonderful! Mr. Dutt has made one of the most insightful character-study pieces of the last twenty years! The photography is beautiful, the editing is top-notch, and the performances are wonderful! Overall, this film is one of those rare masterpieces that only a select few will ever know about, much less see, and that's a greater tragedy than anything that happens in this astounding film. If you ever get the chance to see it, don't let it slip away!

The ex-cop was suspended for orchestrating a fake encounter and is well known for his bad temperament. Now the ex-cop and the lead detective must work together to catch the serial killer before another innocent loses his life.

too much melodrama!

A watchable film. Perhaps a bit too melodramatic at times,especially at the end. In general the plot is mostly predictable and a little flat. The good cop turning bad cop thing is a story we have seen in many many films and needs no new exponents but that is precisely what this film is about. The bright sparks are Gautam Ghosh's acting,which in all fairness was quite good and the soundtrack for the film which is pretty enjoyable. But that is mostly it and that's the problem. While it is a refreshing change to watch Ghosh's acting skills,its not what people go to watch a movie for..Everyone Else's acting is pretty mediocre and the direction,slack. Not a must watch at any rate but more of a film you should watch when you find you have nothing much else to do. Having said that,it is not a bad film,just that it could have been a lot better.

Awesome Movie

The Japanese Wife is quite different from what we generally see in the trash of Bollywood. The use of symbolism in various scenes is quite evident in the movie. Though I find the scenario of the Bengali village very backward, may be because I am from metropolis. This is a brilliant piece of work by the crew. It is a Love story that is the only thing I want to tell as I don't want to spoil the fun of watching it. Meaning of the Love and Marriage is redefine in it. The only disappointment is that there is the use of Bangla/Bengali language in major part of the movie which I as an non-Bengali unable to understand. But even then it evoke emotions within me. And I took the whole pain of registering here on this website just to write that it is a MUST WATCH movie. Hoping that distributors might be giving some subtitle along with the DVD for this movie.

Emotional, touchy and not just a war movie

The story is one of the modern day classics in Bengali literature. Its not easy to cinematise such a well known story where the audience expects for a classic. I wont say it was a classic but definitely the movie was well directed. All the actors gave an accomplished performance. The main character "Rashed" was played exceptionally well. At times he looked a bit expressionless and emotionless but that goes well with the character. A very matured performance was needed from him and he delivered that. "Ebu" was the most important character. That young fella was well aware of his importance and didn't let anyone down. The Director deserves an applause because he tried to keep the movie in line with the story(though there was a small hiccup at the end, in the book Ebu asked ashraf/fojlu about rashed and one of them informed that rashed had died. This was particularly special to me because I remember I cried when I read that part and the director escaped the very thing :p) But overall it was a good experience at least the story was not ruined for the movie which has been the case for many of my favourite books (Including Count of Monte Cristo, Anna Karenina, The great Gatsby, Ivanhoe, Kalbela, Tenida, Kakababu)If you are a Bangladeshi then it is a must see, if you are not I'd say you wont regret after watching, this movie is well worth of your time!

An excellent masterpiece

This film surely has more to say than it shows. One will regret how much Tareque Masud was to give in future despite his untimely death.

I have respect for him and went to the premiere of Runway and found myself pleased. This film has many positives including good screenplay, excellent cinematography, thought provoking concepts and so on.

The life shown was a typical poor society living just beside an airport runway. The life vibrates with sounds of the flights everyday. But the battle of survival of the poor family goes on with a desperate and frustrated man, Ruhul.

Controversial thoughts were experimented by the director, like the formation of the radical Islamic group and their supporting political parties. It was surely a brave attempt in a Muslim country. What was really notable here, director played a neutral role and let people decide the right path.

The time frame was superb. Things happened recently in the country was the basic of the story. Like the booming garments industry, unemployment problems, terrorism, politics etc.

Finally I would like to recommend this film to all. Its worth watching.

And they don't like to break their narrow life. But nature effects on them. And truth rises. And I have seen here The so-called 'Allah' couldn't save that believer's daughter. A girl was dead. But I question To Tareque Masud did he want to show the crippled culture of Islam or just wished to be liberal to religion and project light to a the direction where religions will go parallel.

Super amazing performances by Shweta Tripathi​, Sanjay Mishra, Richa Chadda​ and the newcomer Vicky Kaushal. Neeraj Ghaywan seems to be a very sorted-in-mind kind of a person to be able to make such a sublime film. The cinematography is spotlessly inspiring and to be put simply 'PERFECT'.

It is difficult to believe that we have such fimmakers making such films in India with such good performances by such good actors!

Shweta Tripathi​ is adorably cute and you just to keep looking at her. Vicky Kaushal has the 'boy-next-door' believability and he portrayed his character full of romance initially and angst later with such subtly and smoothness that from the first time you see him, you believe him. He needed some one like Shweta to complement his performance. Actually both of them have complimented each other so perfectly in the film that now I can't imagine any other actors doing their roles.

Richa Chadda plays 'Devi' and her character is so interesting to watch from the very first scene. Her's is a character which cannot be described easily. She lives in a small town, belonging to a rather seemingly conservative family where there is only her father played awesome-awesome-awesome Sanjay Mishra who is a priest-scholar. Devi is an educated young woman who is exploring her sexuality when she gets caught. Rest of the film is about the way she deals this matter with her father, everyone else and herself. Their is a guilt of sorts in her mind that she needs to deal with. She loves her father but their is something in their past that bothers her perhaps. Hers is a very pragmatic character who probably feels bogged down by the small town mentality and sensibilities of the small town that she lives in. Don't want to divulge much, you have to watch the film to try to understand her character.

Sanjay Mishra ji is simply put awesome. He 'acts' so effortlessly that I can't even call him an actor. Cos he just doesn't seem to be acting. He just becomes the character here. And he a delight to watch.

I need to congratulate the casting director of the film for a perfect magical cast. Even actors casted for Deepak's family are perfect and each actor was realistically believable.

Cinematography by Avinash Arun is just awesome. I loved the way he has lit the film. There is no extra, unnecessary lighting which gives the film a realistic look. I loved the shots which would be perhaps termed as under-lit in conventional mindsets. Cinematography was just what it was supposed to be. A great tool to visualize the director's thoughts and it did it wonderfully.

Editing by Nitin Baid was spot on. There is not a single moment in film where the film lags. Its cut crisply yet there is 'thairaav' where required.

Music was like cherries on the cake. Totally sweet! Totally delicious!

'Masaan' is a film that should, would inspire Indian filmmakers to do- away with all the extra glam-sham quotients of the typical Bollywood films. Films are all about story telling and this film does it perfectly. It is based in a very small town where there is nothing over-the-top in any manner. Real locations have been used and they look superb.

The film is full of metaphors and it makes you think. But maybe there isn't much to think, It can be a bit of an abstract film which also works if it doesn't bore you. This film doesn't bore you!

It really engages you!

Definitely worth a watch!

I would give it up for Navazuddin Siddiqui

The guy has done a great job in portraying a character no other actor (or I should rather say, STAR) in the industry could ever have done. Him an Radhika Apte are becoming my favorite actors the more I see of them.

Navazuddin brings Dashrath back to life, and what a life I must say. Thoroughly inspiring... Never have I seen such characterization and casting in any movies of recent times. Hats off to the direction and cinematographer for such a wonderful job they have done. 10 out of 10. What more could I say? Go watch it yourself..

PS: You would love every inch of the Mountain and every act of the Man.

Talvar is brilliantly directed by Gulzar, and manages to tell two stories to the same murder case. SHORT REVIEW-The performances were good as everyone plays their part exceptionally well. Irrfan Khan stands out in his likable character. he once again proves while he's the most versatile star these days. the direction is award- worthy. BGM isn't quite noticeable as the movie works best when there is silence! Plus points- + Irrfan Khan + the movie shows that the case has been researched well + conference scene in the end + Screenplay + supporting actors

Minus point- - First half doesn't have as much excitement as the second

Drishyam: A Perfect movie for ending my tiring Thursday

Just came back from the Premier Screening of Drishyam. The reason for me to catch the movie was the reviews of the original Drishyam which is a Malyalam movie with Mohanlal as the lead actor. The trailers of this Hindi remake with powerful existence of Ajay Devgan (or Devgn, as he writes it now) and Tabu, motivated me to go for this movie after a tiring Thursday in office, (mentioning the tiring day as disappointment was the last this I was willing to accept after the day, Glad I chose this movie). So the movie starts with a small happy family of Vishal Salgaonkar which is living happily in the ever happy town of Goa, there family was disrupted because of an unwanted person entering into their lives who happens to be the son of the Inspector general of Goa, Meera Deshmukh, then an accident happens which changes the life of this family for ever. The way this 4th grade failed person (Vishal) plays with the police department is commendable. So the movie is about how actually Vishal safeguard his family and himself against powerful Meera and her Police Department.

My special suggestion is to have patience and sit for the first half of the movie as nothing much will happen but the story will be built up. After the interval when you come back with that tub of popcorn, its then the real investigation and the never ending plot of Vishal to safeguard his family starts, the proceedings will sometimes give you goose bumps and at times you will expect something to happen which will not happen and hence the tag line of the move "Visuals Can Be Deceptive" The Camera work of the movie is good. it features some of the beautiful locations of Goa (I am not sure if all of that was Goa) The acting done by the whole Salgaonkar family is superb along with Tabu's never disappointing appearance in front of the camera. The movie has limited songs, Two, actually, if I remember correctly, but both the tracks are good and perfectly goes with the situation. The side characters in the movie are also done by good actors and so they mix in the screenplay very meticulously. Overall, Its 100% worth a watch on this weekend, so go ahead book your tickets and go for it, I am sure you wont be disappointed, specially people who like Ajay Devgn on screen should go for this movie for sure.

As delicious as Bengali Rasogulla

Director Mr. #SoojitSircar has done wonderful job. He was very clear about the emotions of every character. He has taken far ahead the script by his visualization. Writer #JuhiChaturvedi breaks the all taught grammar of a script but still succeeded to posses its soul. Hats off to her. She had just an idea on the name of story but she developed this beautifully which was not an easy work. Screenplay is good. Dialogues are sweet and witty. Writing and direction are so gelled that it is hard to believe that actually that is written by two persons. Both were creatively tuned on the same note. This film is a great example that good rapport of writer and director can even carry a very thin subject to an entertaining flick. All characters are very real. You start believing them very soon. Love scenes are realistic, unusual but project the correct emotions. Film is slow but you still enjoy it throughout like home made food. You will be wearing smile and sometimes burst in laughter too. Brilliant performance by all actors is icing on the cake. One can watch any film just for Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He is par excellence. Deepika Padukone is one of very fine actor, who can carry very glamorous character as well as hard core real, authentic and girl next door role with ease and conviction. Irrfan Khan is fabulous. Moushumi Chatterjee and Raghuvir Yadav are very good. Music by Anupam Roy and lyrics by Manoj Yadav and Anupam Roy are impressive.

F***ing grow up already

This movie depicts everything that is wrong with Indian cinema, in fact it overshadows some of the good work done elsewhere. When the likes of Farah Khan are given more spotlight than Hirwana or Mehra, you realize how far behind the general audience is.

I wonder why SRK does such movies. Is he that cheap now that he does such pieces of crap for money? then you see Irani in this movie, a brilliant actor and you wonder if Farah Khan touched their feet and begged them to do this movie for her.

Plus i think Mr. Bachan just died after watching the younger Bachan, Ashweriya must be thinking after watching this that she was better off marrying a clown. When you can do brilliant movies such as Guru why would you do such a pathetic movie.

All in all i will say, anyone who liked this movie probably has a lower IQ than a chimpanzee.

SO kindly don't watch this crap and please if you like this movie for heaven's sake get a life and grow up.

KHANtastic movie !!

This is one of the best Bollywood movie I've seen so far. MNIK is awesome. Its a must watch for every human being. Its a movie for humanity. The way Shahrukh Khan has projected himself as an autistic patient is just awesome. Kudos to him. This is by far his best acting. After this movie, he has proved why he is called The King of Bollywood. He is in a league of his own. No one is even close to him. I have loved the movie. You will not be able to take away your eyes for a single minute in this 160mins movie. This is just fabulous. Kajol as Mandira was awesome too. She had played an excellent character and supported SRK very well. Their chemistry is to die for. Few moments in the movie will make you cry. The way he goes to an only Christian event and donates the money and says "Take this money for the Africans who are not Christians, darling" is awesome. This movie will be an all-time blockbuster. Go and Watch this movie !!
